Description

Lady Elliot Island is located at the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef in the highly protected Green Zone. The Island is renowned as the 'Home of the Manta Ray' and was recently voted one of the 'Top 5' places in the World to go diving and snorkeling with manta rays.

The Island offers a reef within reach with scenic flight access from Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Brisbane and the Gold Coast for day trippers and overnight guests. Due to the fact that Lady Elliot Island is situated within the highest protection zone of the Great Barrier Reef, it is a haven for marine life including manta rays, turtles, whales, dolphins and the entire cast of Finding Nemo.

There is a 41 room Eco Resort on the Island with four different styles of accommodation ranging from permanent safari style Eco Cabins through to two bedroom Island Suites. Overnight guests will enjoy free tours and activities and an inclusive breakfast and dinner.

Description

One of the most pristine and untouched sections of the Great Barrier Reef is located 80kms north-east of Bundaberg, only a 30 minute flight from the mainland. The coral cay that forms Lady Elliot Island is the southernmost point of the Great Barrier Reef, situated just north of Fraser Island, and is home to over 1,200 species of marine life including manta rays and hawksbill, green and loggerhead turtles. Departing daily, Lady Elliot Island offers scenic flights from Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Brisbane (Redcliffe) or the Gold Coast for day trippers and overnight guests. Witnessing the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef by air, before landing on Lady Elliot Island and immersing yourself in the natural environment both above and below the water, is one of the major highlights. Take a closer look at the Great Barrier Reef in a glass bottom boat, snorkel, learn to scuba dive, take a guided reef walk, enjoy a range of complimentary guided activities or simply relax on a deserted beach. With restricted visitor numbers on the island each day, guests can experience an uncrowded paradise in the ’Green Zone’ classified Marine National Park. Throughout the year turtles and birds can be seen nesting and hatching around the island and humpback whales pass close to shore during their annual migration. The low-key accommodation options range from Eco Cabins to Two Bedroom Island Suites with each unit, cabin and suite designed to minimise impact on the island while enriching the guest’s experience of the environment and wildlife. All overnight guests will enjoy free guided tours and activities and an inclusive buffet breakfast and dinner daily.
