Heron Island is a natural wonderland to explore on the Great Barrier Reef. Heron offers many activities such as guided island and reef walks, research station tours, semi-submersible cruises and star gazing. An amazing array of animal and bird life can be discovered throughout the year, such as the delightful Green and Loggerhead Turtles that nest on the island between October and March, with hatchlings emerging between December to April. World famous for its fantastic scuba diving and snorkelling, . Experience some of Australia's best dive spots - more than 20 dive sites are available, only minutes from the beach. To explore this amazing island it's just a boat ride (approximately two hours) or 30 minutes by helicopter or seaplane from Gladstone.

Description

Accommodation rates are based on 2 guests and includes daily breakfast and snorkelling equipment hire (snorkel, mask and flippers). Children (3-12 years) in addition to the 2 guests included in the room rate will incur a charge of $30 per child per day when using existing bedding. This includes breakfast daily as well as snorkel equipment hire. Infants (0-2 years) are free of charge. Extra adults in addition to the 2 guests included in the rate will incur a charge of $105 per person per day when using existing bedding. This price includes breakfast daily as well as snorkel equipment hire. Please note there is no mobile phone coverage on Heron Island. An Environmental Management Charge (EMC) of AU $7 per person per day (for guests 5 years and older) to a maximum of AU $21 per person per stay will be charged direct to guests. Price is subject to change. Upon arriving to Heron Island, the Environmental Management Charge will be applied for the first three nights of your stay in accordance with the number of guests in the room. In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19), a COVID Safe Plan has been implemented at Heron Island. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions some our activities are currently unavailable. Directions

Heron Island is located 72km off the coast of Gladstone, Queensland and is accessible by boat, helicopter and seaplane. Boat transfer between Gladstone and Heron Island takes approximately 2 hours and operates daily, except for Tuesday and Thursday. The Heron Islander departs from the Gladstone Marina at 9.30am with check in for the transfer closing at 9.00am. The return transfer departs Heron Island at 12.45pm arriving back at the Gladstone Marina at approximately 3.15pm. Complimentary shuttle bus transfers between the Gladstone Airport and Gladstone Marina are available for guests. Please contact our reservations staff to reserve your seat. Scenic flight transfers by helicopter are also available and take approximately 30 minutes. Please contact our friendly reservations staff to organise your quote.

Cancellation Policy

EMC - An environmental management charge (EMC) of $7.00 per person per day (for guests 5 years and older) to a maximum of $21.00 per person per stay will be charged direct to guests. Price is subject to change. Payable on Check out - The environmental management charge (EMC) is a charge associated with most commercial activities including tourism operations non-tourist charter operations and facilities operated under a permit issued by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. The funds received from the EMC are vitally important to the day-to-day management of the Marine Park and in improving its long-term resilience. Cancellation Policy: If your reservation is cancelled or changed more than 14 days prior to arrival no cancellation fees apply. Cancellations received between 14 and 8 days of arrival will incur a cancellation fee equivalent to 20% of the accommodation booking. Cancellations within 7 days of arrival will incur a cancellation fee of 100% of the total accommodation booking. Please see the section on Seaplane and Helicopter transfers for applicable cancellation fees. Additional Cancellation Policy - Seaplane and Helicopter transfers to and from Heron Island are provided by third-party operators. Please note seaplane reservations cancelled 48-24 hours prior to the date of arrival or departure will incur a 25% cancellation fee per passenger and cancellations within 24hrs a 50% cancellation fee per passenger applies. Helicopter reservations cancelled within 48 hours prior to the date of arrival or departure will incur a $50.00 cancellation fee per person.
